Scientists like Ralph Baric will be permitted to continue to do this dangerous research because most people are convinced that scientists can create the next communicable disease that could be weaponized, then put the very thing they created (or part of it), in a shot called a vaccine, inject it… and that will prevent the weaponized disease or protect against severe symptoms. That idea is not possible, a very expensive lesson that should have been learned after billions of people were injected with a product that cannot prevent infections, cannot stop it from spreading, and will worsen disease symptoms through various biological mechanisms. Until most people figure out that THE INJECTION IS THE WEAPON, science will continue to do this dangerous and risky research, sanctioned and funded by its own people.
Our society today has created problems which make it difficult, but not impossible to be healthy. He can name the famous names we already know, but not the others as the network of nefarious people must be protected. I am not counting on seeing any real progress in stopping GOF and other unnecessary experiments, after all this all just too profitable.
