Thank you Dr Meryl! I have followed all of this and heard the interview where the Breggins smeared Dr Malone terribly and I was in shock. Yes, they need to make amends! Then Dr Alexander took sides and has some other issue with the “backers” of Dr Malone years ago. It is disheartening to read fights among professionals while Rome burns and millions die. But you have stated the situation very well and thank you!

I have read Desmet’s book and was never under the impression that he blamed anyone for anything. I have no idea what started this spat between Malone and Bregin and I really don’t want to know know and neither do I give a rats ass what it was. But I do see people with influence taking sides and speculating about motive and getting all gossipy and judgemental and making the situation much worse.

Expand full comment

Totally agree about the Desmet book. How anyone could think he was blaming the victims is beyond me. Very poor reading skills and extreme paranoia.

Expand full comment

Disagree 100%. I’ve read the book carefully and took extensive notes.

Desmet’s is saying exactly what the psych-ops division of the WEF would want him to say.

People are reading the words but not paying attention to the underlying logic.

Expand full comment

I did have reservations once I got into chapter 8, and didn’t finish the book. Mass formation or whatever you might call it is clearly a real phenomenon and produced millions, maybe billions, of Covidians. I did however understand Desmet to say that the leaders of totalitarian societies drink their own koolaid, and that the mass formation is a collective societal creation.

I disagree with those contentions. Lenin and almost all the others knew it was about power and not the greater good. And the population has no idea that their leaders are involved in genocidal policies, some knowingly, so how can they be co-creators of this policy?

That said, I’m open to someone rebutting with specific quotes from the book if his message was demonstrably different.

Expand full comment

I’ve dealt with Desmet in some detail on my substack.

Expand full comment

What is your Substack’s name?

Expand full comment

Pre-existing bias. This is the same argument levied against Hannah Arendt by the American Jewish community. Mattias' work is an update of Hannah's work. And the same attack line is now being recycled against him. Arendt is generally considered one of the top political philosophers of the 20th century and one of the definitive voices concerning the holocaust.

Expand full comment

Arendt would be relevant in this if Desmet had understood what she was saying. Instead Desmet takes her “ideology”— literally the logic of a single specific idea, as she herself defined in her book— and butchers it by presenting us with the ideology of mechanistic thinking. This concept is so broad one can spin any number of fantasies around it, such as Desmet’s central idea that Covid response was due to the impersonal steering of mechanistic thinking, and this idea then allows him to dismiss conspiracy because as chapter 8 argues clearly, there was no conspiracy and people who believe there was are psychologically disturbed. This IS his central point.

Expand full comment

have you actually spoken or written to him about your interpretation, or read his responses to the Breggin's criticisms?

Expand full comment

Criticisms, that's what they are. So what if they criticize you? that is called freedom of speech. You criticize a lot of people, and they are not suing you.

I'm jewish and I hear a lot of criticism of jews. I want to know who is anti jewish, freedom to express opinions is fundamental in an open society. I do not agree with the Bregins for writing about Desmet's brilliant work or with their attacks on you but they are free to write their opinions. Free speech should be absolute, and I believe you agree with this.

Expand full comment

Yes. No reply.

Yes, I’ve read his response. I don’t buy it for reasons I outlined in my own substack.

I don’t think Desmet is a bad person, nor you. But I also don’t think people are playing close attention to the structure of his argument. Something is very wrong with it.

Expand full comment

Thank you. It’s not relevant to the issue of course but I’ve never felt much warmth coming from Peter Bregin.

Expand full comment

This is the same argument deployed by members of the American Jewish community against Hannah Arendt for her 20th century work on the Nazis and the Holocaust. Which was the precursor of Mattias' work.

Expand full comment

Desmet shouldn’t be compared to Arendt. Arendt is a profound thinker. Desmet is, at best, confused even though yes, I agree with pieces of what he says. People are seduced by those pieces without understanding the overall argument, which argument makes no sense at all. That’s why some of us are so dead-set against him and it has nothing to do with professional jealousy because I can see it but it’s a matter of logic, pure and simple.

Desmets wants to say and not-say things at the same time. That’s how people are seduced but the actual argument in his book is clear, even though disguised as doublespeak.

Expand full comment

Saying and not-saying things at the same time is a trademark of psychologists. It comes with their professional duty to consider anyone and everyone as a worthy human being, a philosophical burden they had to endorse ever since they stole/took on the role of priesthood. That essentially makes them a bunch of money-making hypocrites who, bar very few exceptions, will always go with the flow, in whatever societal frame they navigate - from rubberstamping the transitioning of six years old kids to deporting dissidents to gulags. In that regard, Desmet is not even an issue. His one business asset is replacing the words "friggin' ignorance" with "mass formation".

Expand full comment

he did not blame anyone. This is a false narrative. Mattias has repeatedly responded to the Breggins criticisms in writing. This all started because neither Mattias or I would record a podcast with the Breggins. I tried to stay out of it, and just directed the Breggins' ire towards Mattias and asked that they sort this out between themselves. And then the attacks against me began. I recommend that readers review Mattias' own responses to these criticisms of the Breggins and others, and then make your own assessment- do his words and ideas merit these attacks: https://mattiasdesmet.substack.com/p/am-i-an-expert-in-mass-formation https://mattiasdesmet.substack.com/p/some-notes-on-the-tragicomic-attempt https://mattiasdesmet.substack.com/p/the-psychology-of-totalitarianism-70c https://mattiasdesmet.substack.com/p/hypnosedation-mind-over-matter-in

Is there any possibility, in the spirit of good will, that issue between you and the Breggins could be settled in arbitration, in a mediated conversation instead of the courtroom? I think I understand why you have taken a legal route for redress, and certainly apologies and retractions from ill-considered statements are in order. They may come if given the chance. Things were said that should never have been said, but that genie is out of the bottle and a settlement won't put it back. In fact, a settlement and the legal maneuvering leading up to it may prolong the conflict, further muddy the waters, and make things much much worse in the long run. So many have been harmed in the last few years, in so many ways, and all of us have had our lives upended. We all still need each other and we especially need you, and others like you and the Breggins, who are in positions to influence opinion and elevate understanding, to set an example of how to navigate differences of opinion and resolve conflict. I'm in my 68th trip around the sun. I know how hard it is to turn the other cheek when wronged. But that just may be the prescription needed for the best outcome for all. In Washington last year you closed your address with that powerful and beautiful quote from Augustine of Hippo “The truth is like a lion; you don't have to defend it. Let it loose; it will defend itself.” I would add that the truth will not forsake you and will defend you too if you give it the chance to do so, in its own way and time.

what was 'mass formation' called before that term was coined? maybe crowd behavior or mob behavior, etc.... it doesn't pt to the perpetrators but to the victims as responsible... I listened to a vid with Malone and Desmet.... so boring and academic and thought this could never put any fire under anyone to create any justice

Expand full comment

I suggest you read the book, because the juxtaposition you have created here is not accurate. Mass formation is not the same as mob behavior, but to the extent they are the same, you are incorrect that either is a situation where the victims are blamed. The issue is that psychologically, for very good evolutionary reasons, humans tend to group together. Often that helps them survive. But that means it is relatively easy to manipulate people with fear and propaganda if you want to achieve that effect. Desmet does not blame the victims--all he does is talk about the phenomenon and what made it happen in the last three years. Talking about the human tendency to react in a certain way is not BLAMING them for it. JFC.

Expand full comment

nothing new in what he presents, just a new term, a newly spin turn useful to distract the public mind from the criminal and blame peple for their human nature and vulnerability to be harmed by those who know how to use this.... he's ushered out and given wide exposure... the sort of thing done by intel agencies to manipulate the public

Expand full comment

This is pure ignorance and paranoia. The term comes from the 19th c. and has been used ever since by psychologists. Not one of them has blamed people for a human evolutionary characteristic. Desmet just today republished an essay he wrote in March 2020. I suggest you go over to his Substack and read it, because you clearly did not read the book. I've seen it called "collective behavior" in the literature, though there are other names. Curiously, Desmet ignores most of the 20th century social science literature in favor of a strange mix of Le Bon, Hannah Arendt, and Solzhenitsyn. It's a funny thing — last year I stumbled across a book from the '60s called "Collective Dynamics" written by sociologists Kurt and Gladys Lang. The book is about crowd behavior, social movements, mass panics, social contagion, rumor, etc, and it's exactly the kind of thing you'd expect Desmet would cite. But maybe there's a reason he didn't: its development was supported by the CIA. What Desmet's theories around "emergence" ignore is that the intelligence agencies and the military's psychological warfare researchers have long had an interest in developing techniques to manipulate the masses. It's in that history and the ways the ruling class deceive us where I think we should look to understand what happened.

The right to think differently is not in question. The consequences of thought and support of one theses over the other that carries so much damage is beyond comprehension.

I have followed somewhat all of these "experts" and have doubts about fidelity of their individual position on plandemic. Malone's backing of Desmet suggests that all this was not done intentionally and we collectively are responsible for the situation like the Jonestown effect is difficult to accept.

And Meryl's saying many PhD and MDs were and are fooled does not excuse any of this "experts" including Malone from the responsibility and accountability for the massive damage the plandemic causes. It also says much about the level of education and granting of degrees to these esteem individuals over the last century. But then Obama got his Nobel price. Says it all.

May I include a wish that Paul Alexander also bow out of this fight and apologize to Dr. Malone. His attacks have been awfully personal.

Pretty much daily since about last Christmas.

Very well said and I have read books of all three. They all have valid things to say. I don't understand the necessity of criticizing the concept of "mass formation." It is unlikely that a judge will grant a victory to a public figure on such an issue. Just a lot of wasted time an energy when the real villains are still killing people with their jabs and the media is covering the scam up.

Expand full comment

You, according to Desmet, are a conspiracy theorist and therefore should be handled psychologically. Conspiracy theorists are dangerous.

It’s absolutely astonishing to me that people can read Desmet and yet not understand what he says so clearly, but this is because it’s cloaked in doublespeak. Look beyond the doublespeak.

Expand full comment

I don’t mind being called a conspiracy theorist, that’s just a nasty word for people that understand the truth I’ve been a conspiracy theorist all my life started out when I was a kid and figured out the Vietnam war was a scam

Expand full comment

I don’t think you understand what I (really) said.

Expand full comment

Ok

Expand full comment

I think what jim was getting at is that the real villains and criminals you speak of with concern, are dismissed by desmet as just figments of the imagination of conspiracy theorists, who are unwell people. And maybe that Malone by extension supports this thesis. And that's why the thesis should be challenged

Expand full comment

OK, now I understand, but when I read Desmet, I didn't get the idea that his perception of "mass formation" required or even necessarily implied that the intellectual stimulus of the mass formation did not exist. I don't see why the concept of mass formation implies that the stimulus is imaginary.

Where did Mattias say that? This is called a strawman argument. It reveals your bias.

I love Catherine and have learned immensely from her. I also have learned life altering things from Peter Breggin. When I first read the Breggins' attacks on Malone I thought they were extreme and unfounded. I was confused that Catherine defended him. I like your article and agree completely with your conclusions. I hope they stop attacking each other soon.

Expand full comment

Malone has never attacked the Bregginses. All he has done is over and over patiently answer all the claims they've made about him. It was a long time before he filed the lawsuit, and it is not about money, but getting them to stop defaming him, which they are doing to get attention.

They are doing it to dilute his influence. I can see no good reason and the most likely is that they are getting paid or played to speak ill of him for flimsy reasons.

Interestingly on February 12, 2020 the Malones published a book called "The novel coronavirus", which is now unavailable.

February 12, 2020!

And? Would not any scientist, especially a well-connected one, have known about this virus from December 2019 onward?

Expand full comment

You mean $cientist? He got wind of a new coronavirus and quickly wrote and published a book about it.

You don't seem to be familiar with the chronology of events. There are excellent records of it

FYI. There is NO virus and there was no epidemic, it's a psy op. For what you may ask, eyes wide open.

Sasha published her distilled version of what some smart folks have been saying for 3+ years. You might want to read that.

Oh and you may want to read and listen to Prof Denis Rancourt too.

You are welcome :)

The book was a pamphlet. The first author was Jill. It was general SARS infectious virus preparedness information, urging people not to panic. It was marketed more in England than in the US because they were hit earlier than we were. I am perfectly familiar with the chronology of events. The Chinese claimed the virus took hold late in 2019, but we now know it was earlier. The intelligence and scientific communities were well aware of it by December. The fact that Jill's pamphlet came out in February is a non-issue. And the fact that you don't believe COVID is a real virus is an issue between you and your brain.

You seem to be privy to them and have read the book. I'd love to read it, do you have it?

"Covid is a real virus". This alone disqualifies everything you say. (I bet you also think that AIDS is a real virus too. :D )

You still have a long way to go! Good luck.

I agree with everything you've said. It's sad to see this animosity. I am surprised Catherine Austin Fittts got involved considering how level-headed she is. I'm hoping she and some of the others can sit down on CHD and put this to bed. I would expect Catherine to do the right thing

many of the Breggin defamatory pieces quote or are directly derived from Austin-fitts' writings about me, which were also unprovoked.

Hear, hear. A reflection my thoughts well said, thanks. I always felt mass hysteria. But others can call what happened however they wish. Watching learned people attack each other over slights is sad, beneath them both.

"But before I knew the regulators were bought criminals, I vaccinated an awful lot of people." - I was duped into the first two shots, as many other elders, because I trusted. Once data arrived, I saw hazards and refused boosters. My trust is gone.

Hi, for what its worth, having stood behind a prescription counter for 21 years, it is common feeling among the pharmacy community that psychiatrists seem to be both the most psychologically troubled individuals prescribing drugs and as a group sadly know little or nothing about the medications they themselves prescribe. This may seem off topic but an article on the latest school shooting in Tennessee off handedly mentions that this trans individual was going thru depression and was "under a doctor's care". OOh OHhh The alarm bells went off and my guess would be she/he was taking a witches brew of SSRI meds and benzos like Klonopin, a combination regularly "prescribed" by psychiatrists but almost always designed to cause severe adverse effects and dependency in the patient. The patients swing between anxiety and depression and BOTH meds have the potential of aggressive flare ups to suicide/homicide! Add them together and wow... you get everything from Columbine to the German plane crash in the Alps. We have known about the dangers of such meds for decades but instead of addressing them, the doctors brush them off and write more scripts for them.

So I don't know either Breggin or Malone but have seen them on videos and think they are both very smart, but feel the attack on Malone is more than a bit unhinged and makes me wonder if Dr Breggin all that stable.... either way it serves no positive purpose to the World at large but I can't blame Dr. Malone for taking it personally. As I once said "Nothing Personal" should have been the "motto" over the gates at Auschwitz..

Follow you here, but it's my understanding that Breggin, though a psychiatrist, has made his name bashing the use/overuse of psychiatric pharmaceuticals and has thus been seen as an outlier by that community itself. "Toxic Psychiatry" is one of his best known works.

Breggin has a long history of provoking controversy. Back in the 1960s it was with an attack on lobotomy. (That he was probably correct is presently immaterial.)

Meryl, Malone started the Unity Project whose whole goal was to protect kids against these shots. I’ve never heard him say anything at any time that undermines the medical freedom views of you or CHD. He is, I believe an integral man and these attacks against him are sickening and childish. Meryl, I highly recommend reading this substack by Dr. Paul Alexander about his own experiences with Dr. Malone, Dr. Cole, Dr. McCullough, the Breggins, and others in the truth movement. No one else is dividing the movement more than Malone has. The lawsuit should be a huge red flag for everyone.

It is BS. When they start up with allusions to pedophilia, that should be a red flag Vee

Expand full comment

So you had the conversation with Dr. Paul Alexander and others that were in Miami with Malone to confirm that it is BS?

Expand full comment

It is total paranoid BS because he was excluded from various discussions. Which was because he is not an MD.

Expand full comment

If that's the case, then have a public discussion about it. I'm sure all of us would like to see this movement united instead of divided.

As many others have also requested, please just drop the lawsuit and have a conversation with the Breggins like grown adults. It is the easiest way to clear all of this up instead of this constant back and forth. What kind of example do you think you're setting by suing the Breggins for $25 million?

Expand full comment

The Breggins are not interested in a "conversation". Many have tried to intervene. You have no clue what you are talking about.

So if I can get the Breggins to agree to have a conversation with you, do you accept? I'll be more than happy to help facilitate this.
