Over the past two and a half years, governments have imposed unprecedented restrictions on their citizens, quashing the human rights we are guaranteed by federal and international law. Emergency declarations made at the state and federal level have closed schools and businesses, ordered people to stay in their homes, forced the acceptance of experimental medical procedures, and caused severe social and economic disruption. Many of the changes imposed on society were done without legislative approval, and most legislatures were prevented from operating for long periods.
These policies were coupled with extreme control of information. The federal government paid for and worked closely with the media to suppress information critical of its policies, and repeatedly provided misinformation to the public.
Thus there was no oversight or redress of the policies imposed on powerless citizens. Even today, there has been no accounting of the mistakes made, and how these policies came into being.
Adding insult to injury, it now appears that our governments supported the development of viruses like SARS-CoV-2, which in an unknown manner left the laboratory and wreaked havoc on the world’s population.
Our elected officials must investigate what happened and create legislation to return us to normal and assure that we are never again faced with a similar situation.
In this light, we have created a Pledge for citizens and for candidates for elected office, providing a clear yet simple path to right some of the most egregious wrongs. We have made the pledge short, so that those who wish to represent the citizens can easily read it and immediately express their agreement or disagreement. Their responses will be posted so the public knows exactly where the candidates stand on these 3 issues.
Excellent and to the point. I am a firm advocate of confrontation politics! To make a pun, let's inject this virally into the body politic.
One rule rules them all : do no harm
