Thank you Meryl, for supporting Kucinich's run for office again. I have no doubt that RFK Jr. would also support him as well. He wasn't the right man to manage Bobby's campaign but he is still a big cut above most Dems in Congress--and probably most Republicans as well. Like Kennedy, Kucinich is a person of integrity. I may not agree with him on all issues but I believe his decisions will be made with integrity. I am always grateful to you, Meryl, for bringing these issues and people before us for scrutiny. You are simply asking us to take part in our electoral process in order to uphold our Democracy. It is critical. Coming from Colorado, may Rep is Joe Neguse. I get no response to letters I send concerning Exiting the WHO. It is as if there is no such issue. He appears to owe nothing to the people who put him in office. Senators HIckenlooper and Bennet are equally as unresponsive on the issues that really matter. Yay Kuchinich!

"He appears to owe nothing to the people who put him in office."

Was it the people who put him in office?

Or do they just think they did?

Who keeps him in office?

The people or someone else?

Same everywhere - not just unelected, unaccountable reps - elected, unaccountable reps too!

Many reps I would not trust with a box of matches, let alone a political position.

I am not smearing all reps regardless - some are gems - many are well intending, but ignorant and hence incompetent and easily manipulated.

The few goodies spend all their time trying to rein in the many baddies, while the rest just watch the show for entertainment and occasionally ask: "What the hell is going on?"

We have a problem - the democratic system has failed.

Many think the ship can be repaired and made seaworthy again.

Can it?

Expand full comment

Thanks for your thoughtful response. Maybe the ship cannot be repaired and it will have to all come down in order for a phoenix to rise from the ashes. Kennedy believes he can. I hope he gets the chance to try--but we are certainly looking at a failed system, systemically toxic. It will depend on each individual. In some way we must be engaged in taking it down and remaking it. Democracy is not something we leave to the government officials. Will this failed try have consequences we can learn from? Or will we simply be enslaved or used for Soylent Green? Humanity is facing a very hard lesson due to falling asleep at the wheel. Will we awaken in time to save the ship so that we can then get busy repairing it?

I hear where you are coming from but would suggest a bit of change in perspective: First, the system is not failed. It is a corporate based and run system and is working extremely well for those in power. It just is not working for the majority of people. As for Democracy or democracy, it was never intended to work for the people but the wonderful language was given with all its promise. What was and is the problem is that people have been lulled to sleep letting 'elected' officials run the show with people complaining when something doesn't feel good but they refuse to have been involved. Now the system has run away with itself and many people are just waking up to the fact that it is out of the public's control. Real independent voices that can get elected either get bought off quickly or are destroyed. Just look at the amount of money AIPAC is putting into campaigns to destroy any independent voice that even minimally criticizes Israel for its racist apartheid system and a not-to-be-denied genocide funded heavily by the US, our tax money! Kennedy has taken on many of the corporations and govt agencies but he shows little heart in taking on the Israel lobby, much to his shame.

Take your points.

Why claim genocide in Gaza, but not genocide and tyranny elsewhere in the name of democracy?

I will not debate the Gaza issue because the propaganda web is too thick for visibility.

What about Iraq though?

We claimed they had weapons of mass destruction - so did we - so what?

Turns out there were no weapons of mass destruction, yet the genocide is somehow OK.

Jullian Assange languishes in a UK prison, after having been persecuted for more than a decade for exposing US crimes in Iraq.

This and many other instances of unjustified and unprincipled US interference overseas, causing untold suffering and death, is somehow OK, but not Gaza.

Hmmm...

Expand full comment

True--the US has a long history from its very inception of bigotry and mass murder. All the instances you mention are vile, undemocratic and pro-corporate. Gaza, tho, is a genocide that is happening in public view and cannot be denied. It is also a visible case of the propaganda machine and its blatant racism that is being funded by US $$$$billions . Assange is not well known, even by progressives and that is because the media refuses to carry the information, doing its job quite well to control pubic thinking. Gaza cannot be denied even despite the media lies of denial. It is also true that issues only gain public consciousness when there is significant publicity. Gaza has done that despite the media lies and blackouts.

Like I said: I will not engage in the Gaza debate because the propaganda web is far too thick for any clear visibility.

I will say that I think, that what many are claiming to be irrefutable facts regarding Gaza, are blatant propaganda being propagated by people who are ignorant of the true facts.

Let's try Ukraine - US/NATO fueled baseless racism, pitting pro-Russian Ukrainians against supposedly non-pro-Russian Ukrainians - both are Ukrainians - both are strongly Russian aligned historically, culturally, ethically, etcetera.

Old tactic to ferment desired conflict, to further desired goals.

No US/NATO interference and there would be no war in the Ukraine - no Ukrainians being made into mince meat.

How many US $$$billions have been poured into the Ukraine war?

More or less than given to Israel in the Gaza conflict?

How many Ukrainians have been slaughtered?

More of less than Palestinians in Gaza?

Who knows? Who cares?

Russia is the mortal enemy of the US and Putin has horns and a tail; so Ukrainians are expendable in the greater war for democracy (dominance) and world peace (power).

Let's look away from the slaughter in Ukraine, and focus on the slaughter in Gaza.

By all means - why not?

It is all just a matter of perspective, focus, goals, priorities and the claimed hierarchy of blood-stained morality.

The human rights band plays on regardless, and the people play along, regardless.

I do agree that we have gotten a "system" that we deserve, as we the people have not been willing to engage on the level that would have kept the system clean and working for the people. I am sad and yet I am responsible too. I wanted the elected officials to do it for me--but they did it for the highest bidder. As for Kennedy, since when did we decide that we couldn't vote for a candidate that we didn't agree with 100%? Kennedy is amazing and many cuts above any of the others. I don't agree with his Israel position but I'm willing say that he has his reasons and I'm sure he holds them with integrity. Bidden is an absolute war monger--this is know and this I cannot tolerate.

I understand your position and struggle with the same thoughts. We have to decide what issues become our line in the sand and this genocide is that for me. However, given no other viable options I am again leaning to giving Kennedy my support but am still having a hard time given his adamant stance on supporting Israel and his obvious ignorance of the actual situation in Gaza and the West Bank along with lack of real knowledge of the history of this Occupation and its illegality. He also is not looking at the corporate interests being promoted; ie, the gas deposits in the Gazan Mediterranan waters that Israel has illegally appropriated and has been negotiating its development with other States while excluding the Palestinians. As the very least it is perplexing that someone as focused on corporate theft of power for concentration of wealth at the top does not know about this major aspect of the problem in Gaza. It strikes me as a major contradiction in his positions..

Considering not just the utter injustice but the corrosive impact of the Israeli lobby on American politics, Gaza/Palestine is a deal-breaker for me. If Kennedy reeks on that issue, there’s more crud and corruption just below the surface. I had high hopes for him and have been sorely disappointed!

I hear ya. It is hard for me to stomach as well. I can only say that his other positions are so compelling for me that I have to stand back on this one.

Only if a good percentage of humanity will fearlessly stand to speak out. It depends on the individual, recognizing we might even lose--but doing it anyway. This is when I am so grateful for Kennedy's deep spiritual core and his insistence that we must move beyond our differences and unify to address our problems--which are many. One little recognized problem is that humanity is emerging into a Greater Community of intelligent life (GC)--and some of these intelligent beings are here seeking to cause divisiveness as a smoke screen while they are mentally manipulating their puppets to take over our world. Yes, it sounds like a far fetched conspiracy theory--but we recognize many of these to be true now. After more than eight decades of researching our strengths and weaknesses, these being are in good position to fulfill their agenda and they will not pull back. It will take a stronger spiritual foundation and a greater intelligence to deal with this threat. Even if we weren't experiencing this alien Intervention, these requirements would still be essential. Our world has been discovered and is no longer isolated. Should humanity actually develop the requirements to compete in the vastly larger arena of the GC, we will be dealing with more technically and mentally advanced races who will always be looking to take advantage of us and this gem of a world we live on. On the contrary, he's NOT a "great guy". He sold us out on universal healthcare, caving-in to that evil cretin, "Odrona"; he believes much of the "party line" on many things; he believes many of the lies of the U.S. government, and he really doesn't take a major stand on anything where he doesn't compromise with evil. Thus, though he is an atypical politician in some limited ways, he is still a typical politician in other ways. In other words, he's a phony and is not truly for the people no matter what.

I remember him from the 1999 anthrax vaccine hearings, before he was "redistricted" and I believe him to be honorable, honest, thoughtful, highly intelligent and a very rare politician. AND he is on our side re the WHO and Sovereignty, unlike so many others.

Dear Meryl, I’m so glad you are supporting Dennis Kucinich for Congress as an Independent candidate. I am a longtime supporter and admirer of former Congressman Kucinich, and have high hopes for him to win that seat.

If you can, will you please suggest to Carolyn Betts that she support him too since she lives in Ohio and could vote for him? Thank you so much for spreading the word for an excellent public servant willing to run for office. He’s an exceptional man. Sincerely, Christina Jonsson

Dennis Kucinich has always been a big favorite of mine and glad to see you support him, too. It is telling that someone who did so much good in his home region and in Congress was sidelined by big corporate money. Just teaches us that it will take way more than one strong person to survive corporatism. RFK jr is withstanding the assaults because of his enormous structure, fund raising and powerful history of taking on corporate power--at least so far. His pitiful stance of supporting Israel has lost him many otherwise strong supporters and workers. I am sure that is why Dennis quite Kennedy's campaign as his peace stance is strong and principled and I am sure the 2 of them went round on this more than once. While not in his district, I will try to support Dennis in whatever small ways I can and hope others will too.

Hope he wins. His district has high percentage of independents. But Ohio has election fraud issues, like all the swing states.

It's always had election issues. My mother was a poll watcher for the CIO -- before they fell into the pit -- because Republicans in Franklin County were taking ballots out behind the polls and putting them in the trash. Now they would do it with their Democrat cohorts!

He is a good man, I think.

But then again, I thought RFK would be the right man for the presidency but I have not heard him speak about the genocide that is happening NOW in Palestine, on the contrary. Huge let down. We are screwed.

What does mr. Kucinich has to say about that?

Expand full comment

Why do you think Kucinich left the Kennedy campaign? I believe it was because of RFK Jr.’s strong support of Israel against Palestine. Dennis certainly does not agree with the genocide going on now in Palestine.

Expand full comment

I've read a few things about the possible reason RFK Jr is supporting Israel. The one that made the most sense is that he might have hung out with Epstein (whose major client was Israeli "intelligence" [sic]) and they have blackmail evidence. It certainly does not make sense that someone advocates peace then advocates Israeli genocide + war with Russia + war with China + war with Iran + war with Venezuela!!!

Expand full comment

I think RFK Jr. is somehow mixed up with Epstein and Maxwell. Not sure if it's blackmail, or what is motivating him to put blinders on about Israel. They are a strong, scary force to the US and the rest of the world. They use us up like a parasite and eat the host.

I would not at all be surprised to hear that Kucinich will be announced as RFK Jr.'s choice for VP. That makes every bit of sense to me and explains why he "stepped down" as RFK Jr.'s campaign manager. More troubling: What is that C.I.A. daughter-in-law doing in the mix? How do we get rid of HER?

Dennis Kucinisch is aware of...the WHO , which is connected to the equally vile CCP. President Trump wanted to ge America out of the UN and all its money grubbing organizations, which are out to destroy our country. Those in our government who are connected to the WEF...are traitors. They are selling America out, too. We know the names of many who went to Davos. If their assets were confiscated it would help pay some of our national debt.
