Likely cause of death, congestive heart failure from the excess fluid. What did the death certificate say? C19!!!

As you and Meryl likely agree, the average practicing MD is a clinician, and is not taught to critically analyze claims made by pharmaceutical companies and therapeutic manufacturers. They advertise in the JAMA, JAMA used to (and likely still does) offer its advertisers space that they can write copy on the product, pharmaceutical or service being offered. The average MD then decides on "what to prescribe" - often based on ad copy in JAMA or elsewhere. G-d forbid they should analyze raw data, check statistics for randomness, numbers, etc.
