As a possible portentous sign, my neighbor, who is mainline, mainstream, covid compliant, but well read and sharp, just gave me a copy of Mathias Desmet's The Psychology of Totalitarianism. I said, "this is the guy who describes how you and your cohort missed crucial critical thinking data points and ran with the narrative." He said, "yes, I guess we did." Maybe it's gonna turn. I cancelled my NYT subscription several years ago, they offered to lower my subscription price to just $4/month. (I also had the NYT Crossword subscription that I had just renewed a few months earlier for an entire year.) I told them no, I would not take even the $4/month offer, out of principle. And I said, "BTW, cancel my Crossword subscription, too." "But you just renewed it a few...." I don't care. It's the principle. I can't support an organization that spews so much crap out there that is not telling the truth to people."
I'm independent, but just can't take purposeful falsehoods anymore. After NPR aired their abortion recording story, I told them I learned to program my radio and boop... NPR is gone now. (tbh, I haven't been listening to them in years... the few times I did, I was disgusted at interviewers re-asking the same questions of honest scientists when they didn't get the answer they wanted.
I don't watch much TV, can't stand even the news (from both sides) in the bars or when I visit my inlaws.
about 10 years ago I ditched my hometown newspaper subscription because after 4 decades of biased reporting that went more and more to the far liberal side, I just wouldn't support it anymore.
And frankly, I get most of my news from some excellent substack reporters! (I'm spending FAR more on substack than I ever did on other subscriptions.... I need to change that.. ahem. Just so hard to financially support so many people..., and the donations to legal funds fighting to restore freedoms, or to fight child trafficking, or hospital care/research for kids and their families, etc)
My feeling is that we need to support GOOD folks that educate others and help us fight the legal battles that are needed to maintain our rights.
don't you have your OWN legal defense fund, Dr Meryl? not that its not amazing that you are creating one for CHD Europe... but we sure wanna see you sue the pants off the members of the Maine medical board.
As long as there are courageous and honest physicians like you, medical art can be revived and made sacred as the human lives this profession is responsible for.

On another topic, I tried to join Twitter the other day to hear Steve Kirsch's "debate" with a doctor on that platform. Now Twitter has "locked my account" for violating Twitters rules. I never even got to do one tweet! That thing is as broken down as a Tesla stuck in a snow drift..
