Even the WHO has stated the increasing levels of abuse, especially among juveniles, are down to the internet. The internet provides child predators with the most effective silencing techniques and the abilty to network and recruit, sharing victims and ensuring female predators gain access to the youngest children because they are the easiest to silence. Showing internet content to potential victims normalises what they want to do to them. Not that we are blameless because we provide children with an electronic dictionary and they naturally look up the same rude words we did. Internet companies profit and are not levied to compensate for the harm their product does as they make it easier for children to be sexualised. They provide tools for the public to use, perhaps they should be prevented from operating in the public sphere if those tools do harm?
