If these psychopaths were serious about climate change and immediate ban on private jets and space tourism would be a good start. Instead they are making us all pay with food shortages and starvation. Chairman Mao would be so proud...

Mao's cultural revolution went off the rails but one issue was spot on: he obliged students to experience farmer's life in order to realize the number one dependency for every civilization: food production.

Off the rails? 40 to 80 million is a long way off the rails!

Depends on your knowledge of history and expressing the numbers of victims in % of the global population. From that perspective:

Mao needs no defense. For instance " global iatrogenic deaths" accumulated over the years could easily top existing numbers - according to this article, 440,000/year (2013).

My ex wrote air pollution laws for the CA Air Resources Board. Circuit boards release more Methane than cows - and they know it. They just think the people won’t fight back.

Long ago I was an electronics technician working with and sometimes making PC boards, and I never heard anything about this. Just now, however, I did some digging and found something. Interestingly enough, articles near the top of my search results discussing PC board manufacturing issues said nothing about methane, but farther down I came across this, pertaining to disposal:

https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s40831-014-0002-4

"Improper handling of e-waste results in vast amounts of toxic waste being sent into landfills which has the potential to leach into soil and ground water supplies. The carbon-bearing waste in landfills leads to the release of greenhouse gases, including huge amounts of CO2 and methane. Up to 50 % of these emissions could be methane, which is 21 times more potent a greenhouse gas than CO2."

It goes on to suggest doing something about that. Yeah.

Expand full comment

Well, times have changed, people are fighting back and it’s getting stronger everyday! Want to reduce methane, shut dow DC!

Expand full comment

It I remember reading correctly then military emissions are not included in calculations yet they are probably the biggest emitter.

Expand full comment

That'd go a long way to lowering the CO2 as well, not to mention the real greenhouse gas culprit: hydrogen hydroxide!

Meryl, contact the EOM Alliance, https://www.ethicalomnivore.org/. They can supply you with materials showing this "methane from cows bad" narrative is bullshit. Furthermore, the methane cows do produce can be easily reduced almost completely by giving them seaweed to eat as part of their diet (cows in areas where they have access to beaches eat seaweed naturally--it's good for them).

Expand full comment

I should think the Irish island could dredge up plenty of seaweed. Maybe they are.

Expand full comment

The methane lie is even bigger than most know. Methane has been inflated in environmental impact relative to carbon dioxide. The result is to make cows look worse than they really are, and to reduce the relative impact of the fossil fuels employed in confined industrial animal "farming" facilities. I will gladly write about these topic areas for you, doctor! :) My book is being distributed now: https://www.amazon.com/Small-Farm-Republic-Conservatives-Environmental/dp/1645022196/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1678300945&sr=1-1

Methane is one thing. I have not yet seen a sound demonstration of CO2 itself as a cause of warming the earth. The sunspot cycle is entering a period of cooling, as well. it just might be getting colder rather than warmer. All the numbers are fudged on their side when they feel a need to do so, so nothing they put out can be believed. The key is reliable date we can believe.

One point that comes to mind, if these people are serious and to be taken seriously, why go after agriculture first? I know the answer to this...but for the normies., If one were to use the Socratic method, my first question would be why agriculture? Why not the entertainment industry? Music, movies, sports, etc. Combined they are a SERIOUS user of resources and have a MASSIVE footprint. I would think if this were a serious, world threatening issue, the non essentials would be the first to cut. The fact the politicians are going after the one contributor that is essential for the survival of our species is very telling! That would be my strategy if I were to ever have an audience with these people. It’s nonsensical except for the fact I know this isn’t really “to save the planet”, rather it’s for depopulation and to be used as the ultimate control mechanism. The problem is, very few of us are paying attention. Farms!?? Who cares about farms?? But if they were to take away the entertainment...boy would people start paying attention! Funny how all of these “celebrities “, you know, the ones who make a living playing dress up, love to tell the rest of us how we need to live our lives, but they aren’t out there volunteering to give up their livelihoods. The hypocrisy is stunning.

Not being a subject matter expert I can't say for sure, but I suspect that quite a few of those cow farts have something to do with being force-fed an unnatural diet under terrible living conditions in concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs). The issue was raised in documentaries that I watched long ago and have lost track of.

Just now, however, I did a quick search and came across this piece of a pre-publication document from the EPA that happened to mention the effect: https://www3.epa.gov/npdes/pubs/cafo_ch11.pdf

And what did the paper say about it? One can almost guess. Under "a. Air Emissions from the Feedlot Operation":

"Certain animal populations, such as beef cattle on feedlots, tend to produce more methane because of higher energy diets that produce manure with a high methane-producing capacity. However, since the proposed regulatory options do not impose requirements forcing CAFOs to use specific feeding strategies, potential impacts on enteric fermentation methane emissions are speculative and were not estimated."

So they focused on cow poop instead. In case you didn't know, liquid poop releases more methane than solid. I hope they didn't spend too much money discovering that.

This proposal looked at ways to reduce emissions from industrial farming. It didn't look at industrial farming itself as a cause of the excessive emissions, or consider an option to eliminate it, not that I saw. Imagine that.

Here's another article I came across in my quickie search: https://civileats.com/2021/10/06/methane-from-agriculture-is-a-big-problem-we-explain-why

I can't vouch for its accuracy, not being an SME. I note, however, that it opens with the claim "Agriculture and waste are the largest sources of the greenhouse gas, which scientists say is one key to limiting catastrophic warming fast.".

Further down there is this, under "Animal Agriculture: Problem & Solutions":

"Between 1990 and 2019, emissions of all three greenhouse gases from agricultural production (not including land use) went up. But while CO2 and nitrous oxide (N₂O) emissions both increased by about 10 percent, methane emissions went up 17.5 percent. Methane from enteric fermentation—burps from ruminant animals, primarily dairy and beef cattle—is the number-one source of emissions, and experts say the best short-term solution is to tweak what those animals eat."

I haven't come across any analysis so far about the relative benefit of slaughtering hundreds of thousands of cattle instead. I suppose it might help if it meant they never made it to the CAFOs. We could also reduce those emissions by slaughtering billions of people, thus reducing the demand for CAFOs.

Perhaps I should be careful about putting ideas into insane peoples' heads, but that last one already appears to be a work in progress. Otherwise it never would have occurred to me.

Almost all cows spend most of their lives on grass and then end in feed lots to fatten them up more. Told to me by a cattle rancher in USA. Also I’ve been to Ireland many times. They are mostly on grass. They are beautiful beasts. Farmers should resist. I hear they are.

Expand full comment

That is my understanding too, from watching documentaries years ago. Hence "pasture raised and finished" beef, which is what I buy when I can. The "finished" part means "not CAFO". Sometimes "organic" is used to mean "pasture raised and finished", which I think just confuses things.

Clear, that is the most delicious ultimate beef you can ever eat! Yes, it cost a little more, but worth every penny. Once you try this meat you cannot go back to the cafo crap. I love my ranchers and farmers!

I have yet to see true real data proving methane causes global warming. Kinda like the safe and effective Democide jabs, it all has the same goal, killing off the population. To hell with proof and transparency.

It’s s never been about climate, but about depopulation and control.

Meryl,

Are you aware of the following 2009 video when 1993 Nobel Prize in Chemistry recipient Kary Mullis provided evidence that "Climate Change"/"Global Warming" is a hoax?

In other words, there is no need to be stopping or starting anything to reduce the global temperature, including the massive killing/culling of any cows. The global temperature is just fine. However, we could start culling all of the people involved in global geoengineering, starting with Bill Gates and the WHO. (-:

The major reason for doubt have been articles like this one

https://theconversation.com/us-military-is-a-bigger-polluter-than-as-many-as-140-countries-shrinking-this-war-machine-is-a-must-119269 and

https://www.popsci.com/environment/military-greenhouse-gas-emissions-data/

which doesn't mention that other countries for their defense will have to increase GHG emissions as well. That suggest, ending all wars and downsizing militaries would have a huge effect. Not even mentioned by the so called "experts" at the WEF.

Hence it's far more likely that another lockstep scenario is being rolled out. Highly profitable ultra-processed synthetic (and disease-supportive) "food" can only be sold well if there's no alternative left. So instead of applying the results of permaculture to maintain the availability of healthy diet with negative carbon emissions, everything has to be broken down. To me that always has been the mark of forceful intervention: adaptation / adjustment via (accelerated) evolution works differently.
