We can take back control of food production if we can figure out how to keep our land. We do NOT need nitrogen-based fertilizers to farm. That is corporate farming programming. They are not necessary in order to feed the world. We can learn to feed ourselves. Many communities are learning to farm regeneratively. Our tiny community has a regenerative rancher. He uses no chemicals. No fertilizers. All grass fed and the cows do the fertilizing and soil replenishing job they were meant to do. I can’t eat beef but his cows are the best tasting ever and the entire community who CAN eat them does a brisk business with him. His young family works hard but are thriving and our community is being fed some of the best beef in the world.
We have a regenerative farmer who fills in our communities’ personal gardens with his incredible produce. And sells to area pubs. His young family is also thriving and helping us to thrive as well. Our community is full of personal gardens and community gardens. We grow chickens and have eggs and some have meat. We reuse the chicken litter in our gardens which we also use to heat our very northern coops during our long winters as the stuff composites in the coops. Some of us grow pigs. Someone around here has a vineyard and is making wine which are starting to taste good. We all hunt and fish and store what we take. And we do that respectfully as well. We aren’t perfect, here, but we are working on caring for ourselves. And we do take care of each other so no one has to go to a government agency when in need. This can be done. Is being done in small communities everywhere.
Every country and culture used to farm and ranch according to the conditions they had and their traditions which had them pay attention to their environment. Gates and Monsanto destroyed much of that and turned those farmers into impoverished slaves who will never recover from the debt those monsters put them under. We can revert to small, family farms and provide for all of our needs. Urban citizens can farm on patios and in their small plots by losing the green grass and learning to restore the soil. I did this for years when I lived in a large urban area.
What I’m hearing, here, are folks who have never learned to care for themselves. Who don’t understand that our current farming practices are destructive and still don’t feed everyone well. And the food is toxic to boot. The large corporate farms DO pollute and it needs to stop. Not because of CO2 or anything else. It’s the synthetic chemicals that do destroy the environment. That make us and our animals sick. Which in turn feeds the pharm industry and so it goes. We could do a lot to stop it all if we just helped our farmers convert to more regenerative farming and ranching. And teach ourselves to provide some or all of our personal food, medicines and whatever luxuries our local environment will allow us to produce. We could lose the mega grocery stores and shoot the finger at government handouts; big chem; big ag; and big pharm. it would take a few years but it can be done. It’s being done all over the place but just not getting the attention it deserves. Given the political environment that is probably a good thing.
I live in one of the harshest growing environments with a tiny growing season. We are slowly becoming more and more self sufficient; I have bees; we hunt; we are planting fruit trees and bushes that do well here; and my chickens are providing eggs and fertilizer along with my scraps which in turn feeds my growing veggi garden that I’m learning to get more and more out of. I spin wool from a neighbor’s sheep and then weave cloth or knit things. I am starting my medicine garden next spring and as a retired herbalist I haven’t needed a doc in decades except for mechanical issues. The COVID thing was a no brainer and we both did get sick. And recovered. Our forest has any number of medicinals and food to forage for which also gets us out in the fresh air and natural beauty.
Y’all need to learn to grow some carrots and tomatoes. And encourage your neighbors to maybe grow apples. And then barter with each other. All you need is a fence to hang pots on; a patio (which I did when I was younger by the way) to hold pots; a yard to dig up and plant properly. Then our only vulnerability becomes our property taxes and military who come in to try to take what is ours. There are answers for that as well. If we take back control over our food production; our medicine and health; and find a way to fend off the idiots who want to take our property, we can beat this. We could, at least try. Your food will taste better for however long you get to enjoy it at any rate.
Obviously the Dutch don’t have private property rights. Sir Lanka tried this same insanity and people actually starved and a real overthrow of the government happened with real guns etc.

Ammonia can be a pollutant in quantity and nitrogen is component in ammonia but claiming nitrogen as a pollutant is insane. How long before they start talking about us - carbon, nitrogen, oxygen units - are to be taxed on our chemical composition. But behind all this 'save the common sedge grass' hype is a greedy government seeking to turn farmland into real estate. They see this as more profitable to THEM and their stakeholders.

Paying 120 percent for a farm gives no accounting for future lost income. Farm land is a solid asset during inflationary times.
My point is that if the farmers are being paid in a fiat currency, they might as well be paid with fopaper plates.
