I feel the same way about Paypal...let us know if there is another safe way to insure they can receive donation. We need to assist our honored scientists/physicians when they come under such erroneous egregious governmental attack.
The thing is, he is in Germany so if everyone sends a check there will be huge fees from most banks to convert to Euros. Using a payment system solves that problem.

I have a 20 year old paypal account I use at most once a year and I give them no info. Same with substack, which asked me for personal info. I told them no, and they left me alone.

As far as the second charge, perhaps a safer analogy ( but more obscure for non-westerners and non-Christians) would be Matthew 23:15, the odious demands of the Pharisees upon the new convert to Judaism.
Left a small payment of 33 euros... and yes if you send as a gift... there is no fee taken.. this guy needs those of us sickened by the lies of those we should trust ... who are hellbent on silencing people like Dr Bhakti...please support him in his hour of need.

Paypal will shut you down for "spreading misinformation" and should be avoided.
