can't decide if I wish my beloved 'egg man' was still alive or glad he passed away (last Feb. at age 97!!) because he would be HORRIFIED and livid at the chicken slaughter. the man raised poultry his entire life and he was a literal wealth of knowledge. he ate eggs every single day of his life, as well as plenty of red & organ meats. he …

he was told many times over the years, that he should stop raising chickens because of the 'diseases' he could get from them (specifically some lung thing from their feather dander, I think) and he just shook his head, saying by this time, he was completely immune to anything he could possible catch. I sure miss his eggs but I miss HIM more.
Remember when eggs were killing us by clogging arteries? Just another example of theory. Perhaps there should be a list of when the experts were and are correct. Save time with daylight saving time. Just another attention thief.
his family sold his property (coups and all) to a non-profit that is going to turn it into a group home for developmentally disabled adults. I believe they intend on raising chicken. I sure hope the current craziness doesn't stop those plans.
he was a gem, that's for sure! the ultimate wise curmudgeon. so many priceless stories of the past of our region (southeast side of Chicago). I tried to persuade him to let someone videotape him telling them but he refused. so sad that he spent the last 2 yrs of his life stuck at home because of covid. he had some strong opinions about all that! he was stunned that people were not going to work or school. he thought that was insane. 'people who aren't sick, staying at home?!'
he would say stuff like: they're poisoning us with the food. we live in a dictatorship, you just don't realize it yet.
Whole lot of weeping going on. ......how often would I have gathered together thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens her chickens under her wings, and ye would not. Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. Matt 23: 37, 38. Scary, appropriate and current.

their still using the bogus egg thing. a recent article was blaming egg consumption for the recent rash of clots (caused by the jab of course.)
the new USDA food pyramid has sugary breakfast cereal higher in importance than eggs.
Sounds like he was a stellar guy.

oh yes, I was his housekeeper but I was treated like family. couple doz fresh eggs were part of my pay ;)
God bless you for remembering him so fondly. You were blessed to know such a forthright honest man.
